Earlier this week, L&Q Executive Group Director Vicky Savage and members of the project team, including Construction Project Director Chris Thwaite met at Walthamstow Stadium with several local councillors and officers from Waltham Forest Council.

Leader Grace Williams, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration Ahsan Khan, Councillor Catherine Saumarez (Larkswood ward) along with TRA Chair Sarah Chaney, Director of Housing Joe Garrod and Assistant Director Housing Strategy John Coker, were given a tour of Walthamstow Stadium and had the opportunity to ask questions about all remedial works and other programmes L&Q are running to support residents.

Sir Iain Duncan Smith MP was also due to attend but unfortunately had to cancel.

We have listened to our stakeholders ambitions and concerns for Walthamstow Stadium and local residents, and we have agreed to the following:

•    Regular drop-in surgeries on site with the resident liaison team, Housing Management and PRS (more details about this to follow)
•    Setting up monthly ‘Meet the builder’ online sessions with Chris and his team, the first of which will deal with works carried out on the townhouses(more information about this will be shared in due course but in the meantime, take a look at last year’s Q&A )
•    Improving our communications around imminent construction works, making more use of emails, text messages and in person visits where possible
•    Doing more to ensure that residents who are not digitally connected do not feel left out;
•    Continuing to provide stakeholders with updates about the rehousing programme and remediation works.

We are very pleased with the outcome of these meetings and will continue to share feedback with you from any such future engagements.

The team also met with the TRA on Monday 27, along with the independent mediator and resident representatives for Goodwood Apartments. The main aim of this meeting was to discuss and feedback on the resident agreement currently being prepared for all Goodwood Apartments residents ahead of their move to South Grove. Details of this will be sent to all Goodwood Apartments residents shortly.
